Off to the zoo in Seattle with Gramma. We've been there three times this summer and still haven't seen the whole zoo. There are real gorillas there as well, but these are more friendly.

Zoo treks
How lucky we are to have two zoos to visit nearby. I think we've managed to get to one every other week this summer, and this year we visited with lots of friends. This trip was with Donovan and Chloe - isn't she the cutest little girl?
Pack of lemurs
I had to take a picture of the arctic fox, because this was the first time we had seen one of them awake. This exhibit had said it was "opening soon" for two years. Time is relative...
Hazel says she's Chloe's big sister, and she loves to try to tickle her hands and feet to make her laugh.
This zoo has an aquarium too. Hazel's favorite exhibits are the Seahorse exhibit and the touch tank. She bravely touches everything but the hermit crabs. Last week when we were there, she patiently colored all the pieces of an otter, which we glued on a paper bag to make a puppet. It's so nice to visit in the middle of the week in the fall, when there are so few kids to fight over art supplies or elbow out of the way at the touch tanks.

Hazel's protecting her flamingo egg. She's still pretending to be a baby flamingo a few weeks later.
Here's the real baby flamingo, if you can spot him there. I'd never seen one before. Cute little thing.
We (and by we, I mean Hazel) were disappointed to learn that the petting zoo had closed for the season, but there were other things to do in the family farm area. Here Hazel is playing among the giant worms.
