Mount Rainier and snow

Saturday morning started out with a warm bottle in Minnie Mouse ears. After that, it's not surprising that we decided to get out our winter clothes and head to Mount Rainier in search of snow. With the snow on the road in the park, it was about a two and a half hour trip one way to Paradise. The new Henry Jackson Memorial Visitor Center was very nice, with lots of dioramas filled with fake wildlife for Hazel to look at. After a brief snack, we bundled up and went for a walk on the snow. Hazel found out that frozen snow is a bit treacherous - so lumpy, with holes everywhere caused by folks falling through before it iced over. Good thing she had me to hang on to. We had to stop every few steps to pick up "snowballs" and throw them. At the top of a small slope, we found a couple snowmen to enjoy. Back in the parking lot, there was a fox seeking handouts, and then it started to snow just as we were leaving. Hazel took a long nap on the way back, and then we watched the Christmas boat parade in downtown Olympia that night. Such a long, fun day!
