Yesterday was Hazel's first day of preschool. No tears for either of us. She hung up her coat and backpack on her hook and traipsed off to play with playdough. Afterwards, she was very excited to tell me everything, and she had big plans about what to play with the next day... except school is only Monday, Wednesday and Friday, so she'll have to wait. All the teachers and the pastor know who Hazel is already - she was apparently the most enthusiastic child about everything on the schedule (meaning she probably jumped up and down a lot) and appeared to be oh so bright. Well of course she is! Now... how to convince her that she doesn't have to know math before kindergarten. She had Daddy make her a practice math sheet last night...
She wanted to wear her new rainbow pants on her first day of school, so there's no way she was going to go unnoticed.

See her new backpack? It only has a required change of clothes in it, but it's still a new school backpack, and it matched the rainbow pants perfectly.

Daddy came home from work for lunch so he could see Hazel off on her first day, and he had to take a few more pictures.

I'm not sure I'll be photographing all her artwork (who am I kidding - of course I will). She was very excited about cutting out Corduroy's overalls herself and choosing and gluing an authentic wooden button on her bear. It looked just like the button in the book, you know.

And a lovely self portrait. She's only just decided that people need to have bodies along with their heads.
