Montana & The Hazel Dazel Candy Company

In early May we visited Montana for some family time. After touring the Jelly Belly factory in April and then reading a book about the Easter Bunny's underground candy factory, Hazel decided to establish her own sweets business. It's called The Hazel Dazel Candy Company. This is a pretend company, of course, but Hazel takes its details very seriously. She and Aunt Trudy took advantage of the vast supply of Tinker Toys to set up two production lines in the living room. The buttons are the candies, and the moving conveyor belts take the candy first through a spool which prints Hazel Dazel on each one... ...and then the candies get iced before dropping into their shipping containers. She was quite proud of the whole operation. (I'll post more about candy making later.)One day we drove up to our lakeside property to throw rocks and collect interesting things to tinker with - Hazel's a tinker fairy, you know, and is always looking for tinkering supplies. Gorgeous, isn't it?The water level was quite low. This meant larger rocks on the shoreline, making it a bit more difficult for Hazel to navigate, but she's got good balance.Now... what interesting things can we find... Pretty rocks in the sunlit water. She had a whole pile of "special" rocks to take home, which we did.We drove over White Pass on the way home and found fields of tulips! That's fairly rare on our side of the mountains for May. And we strolled through the deserted show garden too and made sure to take time to smell the posies.
