Palm Springs visit

When we visited Disneyland in November, we also drove over to Desert Hot Springs to visit Grandma Kitty & Grandpa Don at their winter abode. While we accidentally deleted all our photos from that visit, Don was able to provide us with some. Grandma had plenty of computer printouts to entertain Hazel - coloring and puzzles and such. Hazel loved their little house, and every time she entered the bathroom declared it much larger than an airplane bathroom. (I guess the smallness of the airplane bathroom left an impression.) We rode up the revolving tram car to the top of the mountain, where the temperature seemed to drop thirty degrees. If I could zoom in, I'd point out the green spot where their little house is.

Rock traipsing took up a good deal of time.
Very odd to pack along a warm jacket and hat when it was eighty down below, but we're sure glad we did!
The next day we went to the zoo. We saw many animals we don't have at our zoos... giraffes, extremely long-horned cattle, ostriches, and an array of wild cats. They also had the largest model train setup I've ever seen - sorry, no pictures of that. It was quite impressive, and as a resident of the Pacific NW, it was funny to see it permanently set up outside - not something we would see at home. Looks like this ostrich is hiding his head in his own shade...
And some serious music making in the village area.
She looks like a pro to me - look how fast those hands are going!
